Cannes 2015. No one does it better than the French- fashion that is. The Cannes film festival dazzled this year with actresses, models, socialites and everyone in between giving the Palais des Festivals a dash of chic. Don't think these glamorous gowns escaped my eye, with each new look I spotted a not so subtle nod to the fashions of the past. Check out the post below!  - Lauren Wilson

The queen of the silver screen Charlize Theron hit the Palais des Festivals in Cannes in a canary yellow Christian Dior gown. Her pointed bustier top and sharp draping are reminiscent of Gianni Versace’s yellow corseted gown, the original king of sexy.

Supermodel Karlie Kloss hit the Cannes Film Festival’s AmFar Gala in a slinky metallic Tom Ford gown. Channeling her inner 90’s goddess á la the three muses  from Vogue’s May 1993 issue shot by Helmut Newton.

Model Miranda Kerr takes the plunge in this hot pink Emanuel Ungaro gown at a party during the Cannes Film Festival.  Her disco inspired dress most definitely recalls Halston’s 1970’s aesthetic.

Daughter of rock & roll royalty, Zoe Kravitz is effortlessly chic in this ethereal sheer white gown by Valentino. Her hint of skin and soft draping could only take inspiration from one woman- Madame Gres. Here a white gown from 1972.
